When I visit a new place, I check websites and travelers’ posts for reviews, tips, and practical information. While this makes travel more accessible and comfortable, I often find myself missing a conscious, ethical, and social dimension.
Travel is rewarding and enjoyable, but in the context of the climate crisis, plastic pollution, species extinction, water scarcity, deforestation, war, and social injustice, we need to travel with care, consideration, respect, and compassion.
The world has opened up. We can travel from pole to pole, climb the highest mountains, and soon may even venture into outer space. As the global population grows, more of us will be traveling and seeking adventure – but is this sustainable?
We must also keep our cultural differences in mind and remain open to the people, perspectives, and experiences we encounter along the way.
This is how Wimmee.com came to be. Here, I share experiences, insights, and information that may encourage you to think differently. My hope is that they deepen your understanding of the places you visit and the people you meet.
This site combines practical travel information with a more conscious approach to exploring the world. Take what is useful to you, and let me know what you think.
Travel consciously, enjoy life and respect the planet and all its creatures.
